YouTube’s “Life in a Day” is Picture Locked

I was checking in on the YouTube Life in a Day channel and discovered the project hit picture lock a couple of weeks ago! Having whittled down 5000 hours of footage into a 94 minute feature, they’re now in the post-production phase working on music, sound mixing, and color work. The Sundance Film Festival premiere is scheduled for January 27 at 8:15pm (EST), which will be streamed live on YouTube.

Their YouTube channel is also highlighting a new interview with director Kevin Macdonald and editor Joe Walker on how “Life in a Day” uses a whole new type of filmmaking. Check out the video, and if you keep your eye on the background around the 00:05 second mark, you’ll catch a glimpse of my Arangetram footage displayed on their editing system!! It’s looking like I may have made it into the film…

    Hi Chris!
So, did you hear anything? I read that 1125 clips were being used for the movie. Did they tell you that yours was one of them?
I didn’t make the cut, unfortunately.
    Have a great weekend!

No, they haven’t told me one way or the other. I just posted some more news on this though…they’ve announced the people being invited to Sundance (I’m not one of the lucky few 🙁 ), but it doesn’t mean they’re not using my footage. I’m still hoping they use it, which would mean I’d get a co-directing credit!!

    Keeping fingers crossed for you!

Thanks! It’s not definitive, but it does look very promising. Hopefully, come january, I’ll be able to say I shot something for a “Ridley Scott production”. I’ll post updates as I hear more!

Congratulations on making the cut! That is so awesome!

I guess I didn’t. LOL! Which was to be expected, actually. I was surprised to be shortlisted, so that’s already more than I was hoping for. 🙂
Though the LIAD people sent me an email to say that it’s unlikely that the official announcement comes before the New Year’s.

Happy New Year to you and have fun at Sundance! 🙂
